What do you get when you cross an architect and a shoemaker? You get the Dark Shop, which is in NYC Bond Street’s newest addition, a culmination of two minds creating crazy architectural shows in a completely dark retail store.
When designing the store, United Nude’s director and architect Rem Koolhaas use a dark shop concept, which means that all areas of the store are completely dark except where shoes are showcased and highlighted.
First known for its expertly crafted architecturally-inspired shoes based on ironic structures, this brand is now becoming know for its Manhattan flagship store design. Almost replicating the feel of a nightclub, the Dark Shop’s all black interior and curved, pulsating LED light wall create a perfectly style display to highlight the design of the shoes.
This isn’t just a shopping experience for the ladies, guys can also join on this visual shopping experience. With its forward thinking attitude, pulsating lights, and selectively chosen music, the United Nude Dark Shop is there to take you on a futuristic shopping experience that is highly unlikely to be matched by your average ratail store.
